The worldwide COVID-19 pandemic is affecting everyone. QP is obviously is no different. QP hopes to open in the fall of 2021 with Romeo & Juliet but we had hoped to do the same in the fall of 2020! So please stay tuned.
We have not made any decisions on QP’s 2021-2022 Season. We are waiting to see how the vaccines work; what Massachusetts and the town of Reading determine are the rules for opening and of course, most importantly how confident you, our patrons feel about coming back into the theater with all the safety precautions we can take for you.
We are looking at doing video productions like we did for Suburban Holidays, and more Theater in the Park(ing Lot) as soon as the white stuff disappears and the temperature gets a bit warmer!
Until we see you again please stay healthy so we can all enjoy theater together !
QP loved being able to produce live theater for you in our parking lot from August to November 2020. And especially glad folks enjoyed bringing their lawn chairs and seeing the shows – and yes even in the hail and rain, which meant QP also had it’s first drive-in theater production too! We thank all of you who came and donated to the playhouse.
Our thanks to all the actors and the production team that made it happen too. We had a great time and for those who said ‘hope you continue Theater in the Parking Lot even when COVID times are over,’ we are going to try to figure it out for 2021!
The show goes on in sunshine … and in rain!
A few years ago Robert Perry who grew up acting and directing at QP, shot a QP backstage story. It is still a great watch as it gives you actor, director and designer insights. Theater will be live again but it is nice to remember the stage and theater full of life so sharing it again!
Ever since its first production in 1938, QP has strived to tell good stories, with exceptionally talented actors, under the lights and on the sets created by imaginative designers, who are all led by visionary directors for the enjoyment of QP patrons. This simple goal has made our first 83 seasons very successful! It will continue to drive us to produce quality and award winning shows that entice our audiences – for at least another 83 years.
