About QP

The Quannapowitt Players, Inc. have been in the business of providing quality community theater for 79 years. QP is an all volunteer organization that produces four shows a year in a converted 1853 two room school house in Reading, MA.  The unique black box theater seats 150.

Renown for their depth of talent, both in the actors who are featured on stage and the imaginative designers who build, light and produce the “magic,” QP provides an affordable theater alternative in the greater Boston area. QP By-Laws

Having in view an organization to produce plays of quality; create a better acquaintanceship, closer sympathy and a higher degree of interest in things of a dramatic nature; encourage a spirit of cooperation in the development of dramatic and allied arts as a civic, educational and social activity of the community; and provide a climate for dedication to general participation in the many and varied activities whereby these goals may be accomplished. Handicap Bathroom Project

In 2006 the QP Board of Directors started the largest capital improvement project since QP converted the 1853 school house into a theater in 1968.  The goal of the project was to create an addition with handicap accessible facilities, a lobby and additional storage.  It took two years of planning working with the architect,  obtaining necessary variances and permits,  as well as finding funding and fundraising. The construction began in July of 2008… Read more…
