Auditions Suburban Holidays

Sunday, September 29th at 5 PM, and Monday, September 30th at 7 PM at QP

Our a new QP’s holiday tradition runs December 12, 13, 14 & 15, 2013

There are two one act plays and four short plays that will run Thursday through Sunday and will be directed by Patrick Cleary and Donna Corbett.  There are nineteen roles,  a variety of ages, nine women, ten men and two reindeer! The plays and characters:

Away in a Manger

JOE (m. 25-45): A carpenter. Not really buying into the whole “miraculous birth” idea.

MARY (f. 20-40): His wife. Very patient with a jealous husband.

A Time for Thanks

DEREEK: 20-something professional w/a new career opportunity to pursue in the Midwest; engaged to Sam

SAMANTHA (Sam): 20-something professional ; independent and actively trying to not be like her mother

HELEN: well-meaning but opinionated and overbearing mother of Sam, wife of Don

DON:  gruff, straight-talking husband of Helen and father of Sam; doesn’t say much, but when he does he makes it count

MITCH: father of Derek; prototypical fast-talking businessman – proud of his success but has his regrets

CATHY: Mother of Derek; florid and effusive – one who embraces the spirit of pursuing happiness – but with a caustic tongue when it comes to her ex-husband

Love on a Winter’s Wind

COWBOY SNOWMAN, DUKE: Made in the 1950s. DUKE is a hard plastic snowman that wears a cowboy hat. He embodies the spirit of John Wayne in his cowboy movies. DUKE can move from his waist and shoulders but his arms don’t bend.

REINDEER ONE: Made in the 1990s in Mexico/Latin America. A mechanical reindeer with the personality of a teenager. Reindeers have a slight Mexican accent. Their heads and upper body move in a rigid fashion.

REINDEER TWO: Made in the 1990s in Mexico/Latin America. A mechanical reindeer with the personality of a teenager Reindeers have a slight Mexican accent. Their heads and upper body move in a rigid fashion.

SNOWGIRL, LIN: Made in 2012 in Asia. A large inflatable snowgirl. LIN is naïve and enthusiastic about her first time experiences outside her package.

Regifting

TIM (m. Any age): A husband who is deeply romantic at heart. Tim is the narrator of the tale. Has many monologues.

SUSAN (f. Any age): Tim’s wife. Sarcastic, funny, and romantic. The love of Tim’s life.

Round John Virgin

LORI (f. 30-50): A mother and someone John remembers as a child.

(ROUND) JOHN (m. 25-100): A forgotten holiday legend, who considers himself better than Santa.

The Holiday Concert

MARY CHRISTOPHER (f. any age): The recently hired chorus director for Maplegrove Elementary School.

EDWARD SMITH (m. any age):  The principal at Maplegrove Elementary School.

SARAH WHITE (f. any age):  The attorney for the Maplegrove School District.
