Auditions Prelude To A Kiss

Auditions: Sunday, March 11 (7-10 PM) and Monday, March 12 (7-10 PM)
Production Dates: May 18, 19, 20 (2 PM matinee), 24 & 25 and June 1 & 2.
All performances are 8 PM except for matinee.
Auditions are open to all who are interested at the QP Playhouse and will consist of readings from the script (no appointment necessary). Copies of the audition sides will be made available prior to the auditions by contacting the director at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You meet the love of your life, your destiny, your one true soulmate. Vows are exchanged and happily ever after is laid out before you. So what happens when that soul reveals itself to be someone entirely different that you thought they’d be? In ‘Prelude To A Kiss,’ Craig Lucas’ charming romantic comedy with a twist, a simple kiss turns the worlds of three people completely upside down, and the question of who we love and what that really means is put to the ultimate test.
PETER (male, 20’s-30’s) ~ Charming and affable, Peter is the audience’s guide through the play and must be able to connect with them while frequently shifting in and out of the action.
RITA (female, 20’s-30’s) ~ A strong, independent thinker who goes through a massive transformation during the course of the play which manifests itself physically as well as emotionally. Actress must have the ability to delineate these changes clearly.
OLD MAN (male, 60’s+) ~ Like Rita, this character goes through a massive physical and emotional change during the play and must be able play two distinctly different personalities while maintaining a singular sense of character.
TAYLOR (gender flexible, 20’s-40’s) ~ Peter’s co-worker and friend.
MRS. BOYLE (female, 40’s-60’s) ~ Rita’s mother.
BOYLE (male, 40’s-60’s) ~ Rita’s father.
AUNT DOROTHY (female, 40’s-60’s) / LEAH ~ Dorothy is Rita’s aunt. Leah is the Old Man’s daughter. Roles will be played by the same actor.
UNCLE FRED (male, 40’s-60’s) ~ Rita’s uncle.
TOM / JAMAICAN WAITER (gender and age are flexible) ~ Tom is a bartender and Rita’s co-worker. Roles will be played by the same actor.
MINISTER (gender and age are flexible)
